Unable to initialize modems in Win 2003 Server with Acceleport Xp

We are trying to run a modem pool using Windows 2003 Server with an Acceleport Xp card.
The remote access application that we use manages to initialize our modem using the onboard COM1. When trying the same commands through the Acceleport (COM3-7, we use five modems), the modems are not responding. The communication settings in the application are as follows:

Data bits = 7
Stop bits = 2
Checksum type = LRC
Block size = 256

What could be the problem?

Thank you.

Have you tried a parity of 8N1?

This sounds like a known issue with certain devices (like some modems) which autodetect for parity rather than truely setting 2 stop bits. When the Xp port is set for 2 stop bits it detects for 2 stop bits, but the autodetecting modems, etc. in reality only detect for 1 stop bit, so a mismatch occurs.

If 2 stop bit parity is necessary, I’d recommend using the Acceleport Xr920 PCI product rather than the Xp, since its stop bit detection scheme will work with a parity autodetecting modem.
