unix/etherlite 160 terminal idle times

I have a bunch of etherlite 160 terminal servers installed. we recently upgraded server and are running into an issue now.

Prior to this each device logging in was showing their own idle times, now EVERY device connected via terminal server is showing the idle time of the same. I’m guessing one of the digi daemons is causing this but can’t figure out where to look. Even if I go use a terminal it will still show idle and then a while later all terminals will update to non-idle for a second. They do not lose connection or anything, the server is just seeing the terminal as idle:

What flavor/version of Unix are you running?

What version of the driver are you running?

We are running Red Hat Linux release 6.8

dgrp: Digi RealPort driver version: 1.9-31

any suggestions would be great

I recommend updating to the latest driver release to see if any change is noticed:

thanks userid0, i’ll give it a try. it will probably be a few days before i can do that.

as soon as i get it updated i’ll post a followup.

I’ve installed the newest driver.

I’m still having issues. The terminals can login (they could before) but when they do they are still not all showing up when terminals login. I’ve logged into the linux server via terminals on three different terminals and only one is showing up when I issue “w” or “who”. only one of the tty’s are showing logged in. When I do ps I can see the users logged in and see the processes they are running.

I also still have to issue “/sbin/start tty TTY=/dev/ttya00” for each tty i need.

I currently have 4 of the digi etherlite 160s running. (ttya*, ttyb*, ttyc* and ttyd*) all are acting the same.

I’ve reboot after installing new driver too (just in case).

logged in under multiple terminals and some show up and some don’t. I let one sit for 10 minutes and it’s idle time was showing properly. When I logged into from a second terminal the first terminal’s idle time was then changed to match the idle time of the second terminal.

Sounds like something you might want to report to Digi Technical Support as a possible bug.
