USB Anywhere pings timeout after usb keys plugged in (randomly)

I’m suspecting this is a hardware issue… as if i ping from any machine, after plugging in a usb key, i start to get random timeouts… and on a 2008 x64 server box, where i do have the driver installed, you can likewise see it suddenly says no usb anywhere found etc…

When i first hooked up the device, i plugged in a HASP Usb key (HASP HL v3.21 net 50) … it seemed to install the driver fine etc… but since then i cant get the device to work.

Any help out there?

Or rma?

Thanks

*I should also mention i’ve tried other keys and different types of keys, like our solidworks dongle, with the same results.

We’ve received other similar reports from customers using the new v2.60 driver on Server 2008 x64. Those customers reported that the AnywhereUSB reboots constantly as soon as the key is attached to the AnywhereUSB. This can be observed by either watching the AnywhereUSB Configuration Utility (you would see the AnywhereUSB disappear every 10-30 seconds) or by looking at the front panel of the AnywhereUSB (you would see the lights all disappear every 10-30 seconds). Is that the same kind of behavior you are seeing?

Yep… at first i didnt think it was 2008 x64 (driver) related… but this does appear to be the case.

The status light goes red… the green lights on the 1-5 start “searching” when plugged in.

I tried on 2008 x86, no issues so far… i guess i may have to stick with x64 for my server.

I have the same problem. I Need solution so soon as probably faster. Time is money.
HELP!!!

“I tried on 2008 x86, no issues so far… i guess i may have to stick with x64 for my server.”

…using which version of the AnywhereUSB driver? If you aren’t sure, click “View / Driver Information” in the AnywhereUSB Configuration Utility and note the version of the first file “awusbsys.sys”. If it’s 2.40.xx then you’re running the v2.40 driver. If it’s 2.51.xx then you’re running the v2.51 driver. And so forth.

P.S. I see that you opened a support case too via our web portal. Would you prefer for me to to work with you here or there? One place would make it easier for me.

Our engineering group has fixed this bug. The upcoming v2.70 AnywhereUSB driver will include the bug fix. I should have a release date for this driver early next week, so stay tuned. Thanks in advance for your patience.

Please add your e-mail address to your profile and make it public. I’ll then add your e-mail address to a “waiting list” and we’ll let you know as soon as the new driver is released. Also, when I find out the scheduled release date, I’ll post that information here.

OK
I’m waiting…

pls add my e-mail to a “waiting list”.

Best regards.

Same thing happens here.

No further need for me to repeat same errors.

I would indeed like to recieve news about the new upcoming driver v. 2.70.

Thanx in advance.

I’ve added you both to the list.

Quick status update:

The v2.70 driver is currently being tested by Microsoft for WHQL certification, so it will be digitally signed by Microsoft.

If we get the OK from Microsoft, I should be able to give you that version before it hits our website.

Stay tuned…

Everyone,

The v2.70 AnywhereUSB driver is ready! The dongle/reboot issue has been resolved.

It’s been WHQL’d (digitally signed) by Microsoft. Here are download links:

ftp://austin:!15st3n!@ftp1.digi.com/support/AnywhereUSB/2.70 (WHQL)/32-bit/AnywhereUSB v2.70 driver 32-bit.zip

ftp://austin:!15st3n!@ftp1.digi.com/support/AnywhereUSB/2.70 (WHQL)/64-bit/AnywhereUSB v2.70 driver 64-bit.zip

(Copy and paste these links since the spaces cause the link to be broken!)

You should first uninstall the existing AnywhereUSB driver by clicking “View / Driver Information / Uninstall” and reboot the PC when prompted.

I will e-mail this information to you all as well, to make sure you get it.

This is the same version that will end up on our website.

Please leave feedback, positive or negative.

Thanks again for your patience.
