Wi-Me connector

Hello

I have Connect Wi-ME module but it has only 14 pin connector instead of the 20 pins which is stated in datasheet. Is there something wrong with module or am I looking at the wrong datasheet?

Tim

Tim,

Pins 1 and 2 are the Power OVer Ethernet pass-thru pins, seeing as it is impossible to provide power of wireless the pins have been removed. Pins 3-6 had always been removed to allow for “creepage and clearance”.

I will have to double-check the user’s guide to ensure that this is stated.

Ok, that solves my problem. I was just confused by pins 3-6 showing in the picture.

Tim

Tim,

Exactly what document(s) and page number(s) are you seeing this information? I would like to get the information straightened out if necessary.

Digi Connect ME & Wi-ME
Hardware reference

At page 13 there is bottom view picture “Power and device interface connector”.

Tim

Tim,

Take a look at the very last page of this document. Check the part number and, more importantly, the document revision letter. I think that you are looking at a version of E or earlier.

This document is currently are revision F (http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentation/90000631_F.pdf). In this version of the document it does indicate that pins 1-6 have been removed from teh Wi-ME.

My document was rev. B, so that was the reason.
