XB24-Z7UIT-004 right for transparent transmission?

Hello all,
I’m a bit confused with XBEE- XBEEPRO- XBEEZB, router, end point, coordinator, firmware versions, etc etc.
I need point to point transparent connection (UART replacement). In the data sheet I read that this is the default behaviour.
Is this module XB24-Z7UIT-004 good for me? If I buy a model with a different firmware (last three digits), shall I be able to change it later?

Any of these can be used in transparent mode as a UART replacement.

XB24-Z7UIT-004 or XBP24BZ7UIT-004(extended range version) would be fine.
