XBP24BZ7WITB for mesh networking?

Hi, I am a freshmen of XBee products. I bought two dev kits: XBP24BZ7B-DK-WJ & XK-Z11-M-W, each kit including several modules. Now I have some urgent questions.

  1. Can the programmable XBee-PRO ZB modules such as be used to built a wireless mesh network?

  2. Why can’t the X-CTU communicate with XBP24BZ7WITB? When I hit Test/Query, the X-CTU responses with a message box as follows.
    Communication with Modem… OK
    Modem Type=Name unknown (ID=42949672915968578)
    Modem firmware version=several irrecognizable characters
    Serial Number=several irrecognizable characters
By the way, the communication is OK for XBee low-power modules (XB24-Z7CIT & XB24-Z7UIT) and XBee-PRO extended range modules (XBP24BZ7SIT & XBP24BZ7WIT).

Any help is appreciated!

Hi,

Check whether the Modem Configuration tab is giving correct module parameters.

If not try to restore the module, or re-flash the firmware

Hi, 16ksa23! Thank you for your reply.

I’ve solved the second problem according to the following article: http://www.digi.com/support/kbase/kbaseresultdetl?id=3291.
It is in fact not a real problem of XBee programmable modules.

Nice post. I like it. Thanks for sharing these information. Keep it up. [:))] [:x]
