About CC-WMX53-LX serial ports

Hi good morning, I’ve different questions before buying the jumpstart kit.

  1. I need to know if digi provide some documentation for learning how to use WiFi target, because this is under linux and digi has its own drivers. Some website do you recommend?

  2. The TTL serial port manage UART protocol?

  3. Can I use the three serial ports, LCD touch, WiFi communication at the same time??

  4. About the two RS232 serial ports, is it easy to connect some wires before the driver analogue to MAX232, this is because I need to work with UART 3V3.

digi Embedded Linux online help has extensive documentations on the topic, both for general linux wifi configuration and RedPine specific commands

Please look at the developement board schematics to make sure there are no shared / multiplexed pins. how many serials ports do you need. In any case without looking my best gues is “yes, this would be no problem”

yes , should be easy - headers are available for all pins.

Yes, just not PC appropriate signal levels, that’s why you need MAX232 to connect it to a PC.

UART1 and UART2 already have this level converter and DB9 connectors on the developepment board. UART3 is brought out to Header X19 (same area on the board) and is indeed TTL.there are of the shelf products that will let you connect it to a PC.

LeonidM about the UART1 which is used as Console, can I used it in my application for managing an external device? or is it only for console option?

you can make console silent and re use this uart for your application though u-boot variable and use console over ssh when you need it

I was watching the schematic files and the UART3 (TTL serial port). But I didn’t see a driver to manage it to [0-5 volt], it’s used direct from the J2 header, is it a default characteristic of the microcontroller??

I don’t think it can be 5v, it’s probably 3.3v - it is coming directly from i.mx53 so to make sure check it’s HRM
