Anywhere makes VDI desktop very slow

Proof of concept testing.
After installing anywhere USB/5 on a VMware Vsphere VM, running windows 7, anywhere usb does work. But the VM becomes very sluggish, taking 10-30 seconds to react to clicks, repaint windows etc.
Connecting to VM via RDP. It is as if there is network contention between the VM anywhere process and the remote desktop protocol.
Occasionally the RDP client will get disconnected fo 10 secs, and then will auto reconnect. uninstalled anywhere, VM performance goes back to just like a local desktop. Installed anywhere again, slow again. removed, fast again. Using v2.7 drivers with a Gen 1 usb5 concentrator. Ethernet ports all 1gb.
Ideas on how to troubleshoot?

I’d start by updating the AnywhereUSB driver since Windows 7 isn’t officially supported in that v2.7 driver. Download the current release v3.0 driver and install it over the top of the existing one.

If the issue-at-hand persists, disconnect all USB devices from the AnywhereUSB then reboot the AnywhereUSB (and the VM too, if feasible) and let me know if the symptoms change or not.
