AnywhereUSB/5 - strange behaviour

Hi,

We have a AnywhereUSB/5 device located in USA which is currently connected to a host also located in USA. Everything is working fine.

We want to switch to using a AnywhereUSB/5 device located in the UK instead. When using the ‘AnywhereUSB Remote Hub Configuration Utility’ on the host both devices are discoved and we can disconnect the current one and connect the new one. All seems well.

However, something is wrong since the host does not use the license on the SafeNet USB key correctly.

I assume that the physical distance (host in USA vs AnywhereUSB/5 in UK) is not an issue but I could be wrong?

The only suspicious thing that we have noticed so far is this: When looking at the Device Manager on the host, we see the following:

Universal Serial Bus controllers
AnywhereUSB Host Controller XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX -0
AnywhereUSB Host Controller XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX -1
AnywhereUSB Root Hub
AnywhereUSB Root Hub
SafeNet USB SuperPro/UltraPro

The issue with 2 X Host Controllers and 2 X Root Hubs is only seen when using the new AnywhereUSB/5 in the UK. If it is disconnected and the original one in USA is connected, only one Host Controller and one Root Hub is seen in the Device Manager.

Was something configured incorrectly with the new one? Any and all input is greatly appreciated!

OS is Windows Server 2003. Driver version is 3.60.60.0

/Morten

Have you confirmed the latest 1.83.x firmware has been applied to the units?

The following knowledge base article might be helpful:

If you unplug the SafeNet USB dongle and plug in another USB device, such as a mouse or zip drive is it seen and functional?

Also, is the latest SafeNet driver installed?
