The Digi Acceleport RAS 4 is not working in the new HP DL380 G6 servers. We are using the HP PCI-X Riser kit. We have tried 2 different Digi cards in in 3 different DL380 G6 servers. The card does not show up at all in Device Manager. The red light next to the text “1.5VFAIL” on the HP PCI-X Riser card is on. We are using this card in our DL380 G5 servers without issue and the card works in the DL350 G6 with the PCI-X Riser kit. If we cannot get this combination to work then we will have to shop for another 4 port fax card. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I suspect that HP no longer supplies 5 volts to the PCI slot.
The adapter can be used with with PCI slots which provide either 5 or 3.3 volts on the signaling pin (aka the I/O pin). However, the adapter needs 5 volts on the proper PCI pins to power up the adapter.
If the 5 volts is not being supplied, there is nothing which can be done to make the adapter work in this G6.
Regarding other modems you could use with the DL380 G6, Digi does not make any other internal adapter. We do have the Rapidport modems. This is an external box with 4 modems built into it. It connects via a USB cable and it has its own external power supply.
Here is a link to its product page:

Thanks for the quick response. Unfortunately, these are 1U rack mounted DL380 servers and space is a commodity. If Digi does not have an internal adapter then we will have to look into using the Dialogic Brooktrout TruFax or TR1034 fax boards. Thanks again.
I have Digi RAS 4 cards working in a handful of HP ProLiant DL380 G6 servers. Most have been well with the use of the PCI-X riser card. However, I’m seeing issues with my most recent installations. I have some Digi RAS 8 cards that aren’t working at all in DL380 G6 systems. I had one that functioned well for 20 or so days until a system reboot. As in the others, it seems as though the card isn’t even recognized by the server. It doesn’t show up in the BIOS or the lspci output.
Due to the recent set of failures, I’m going to investigate the impact of system or ILO firmware on this.
Did you ever get anything working for your systems?
No. We are now using the Brooktrout cards I mentioned in my previous post. They work very well with our fax software.
