I have xbee pro s1 OEM 802.15.4 modules with a digimesh 2.4 ver 8003 firmware updated. I am trying to create a multihop network for various application.

can i create the network using the modules ?with digimesh protocol ?

do i have to use a microcontroller with the modules ?

Hi,

For creating the mesh network using DigiMesh2.4, it does not require microcontroller. You can also create multihop mesh network. The other advantage over here is routers can sleep. I hope this what you are looking for.

Yes, it supports. 802.15.4 and DigiMesh 2.4 firmware both compatible on XBee/XBee-Pro S1 hardware.
