Hi,
I bought 2 light bulbs which should support IEEE 802.15.4 2.4GHz Zigbee communication. Unfortunately the supplier doesn’t provide me with any technical documentation about the communication protocol. I have one XBEE S1 802.15.4 ready as coordinator in API mode and I would like to detect those 2 light bulbs as end devices and communicate with them (mainly turn it off and on). I don’t know on which channel or PAN ID they operate. I can just assume that the communication is not encrypted. Any idea would be highly appreciated.
thank you,
Jan

Who is the manufacture of this product and what is the name/model number for that product?
looks like a spam, please delete
It is some unknow manufacturer from China. I found it on Alibaba. Trying to get in touch with them to provide me with communication but no luck. They claim that those bulbs are Zigbee 802.15.4 standard compatible. Anyways, would you be able to point me to a different manufacturer whos led lights I can use and actually control them using my own XBEE coordinator? I have Xbees both 1 and 2 series available, I just really need to create own hub and control those bulbs myself, i dont want to use any third party hubs or something like that. Thanks in advance.
It is probably not 802.15.4 but Zigbee instead. If that is the case, than the XBee modules you have will not work with it. You would need to use the XBee ZB or XBee ZB SMT modules instead.
As for other manufactures, I think Phillips offers one as well as several others. But I would recommend going to Zigbee.org to find the ones that have been Certified.
Thanks, I found tons of compatible bulbs on Zigbee.org. They say there that they are Zigbee light link compatible. How to create a hub by myself to have it also Zigbee light link compatible? Should I only use XBee ZB or XBee ZB SMT? I have XBee 2mW PCB Antenna - Series 2 (ZigBee Mesh) from sparkfun.com (https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11217) and I am also failing to find the bulb by this xbee. It should be XBee ZB ZigBee mesh compatible or not? Should I use different? Thank you.
The 802.15.4 S1 modules are NOT a Zigbee enabled device. They operate at the PHY and MAC layers which is 802.15.4. Zigbee Runs up in the networking and application layers of the OSI model. To talk to a Zigbee enabled product, you must use the ZIgbee or ZB Enabled products.
Digi does not directly support the Link link application. You will need to do some reading on that specific application to determine what functions will be required in order to communicate. I would then suggest looking at the SMT version of the ZB products as they have more memory and functions available over the standard XBee ZB modules.
