Is it possible to directly connect the XBee to my Android Phone's Hotspot?

I want to ask if it is possible for a XBee wifi module to directly communicate to an Android Phone by just turning ON its Hotspot.

I asked this because we have a thesis project which Arduino Nano with a wifi module must send sensor data to Android Application by just turning ON the hotspot of android phone.

No other access point, just he Android Hotspot itself.

If you use the WIFI module, then yes you can send data from its UART to your Phones WIFI hot spot function.
