We have legacy software running in MS-DOS 6.22 that uses an old ISA PC/4 board. The driver for the board is built into the software.
Is there a way to configure the PCI classic (for example) to emulate the way the old PC/4 communicated? The software appears to see COM1 and COM2 but not COM3 or COM4. I’m wondering if it’s looking for different base addresses?
None of our PCI type cards can be used to emulate the old PC/X (PC/4 or 8 or 16) cards. The individual I/O port addresses cannot be set with any of the PCI cards as is done on the PC/X card. You will either have to find a way to continue using the PC/4 or get the application rewritten for a newer operating system.
