Right Solution? Mesh to Internet connections possible?

General question. I have multiple Arduino’s controlling some equipment, and I want them all connected to the Internet.

Is the XBee mesh network a solution? IE the Arduino’s are connected to each other via a mesh network and there is one XBee Wifi module that connects to the WiFi network for Internet access?

Considerations are cost and power usage (Solar powered)

I suppose you could use an X4 that has both wifi and cellular interfaces. The X4 would have mesh networking with the zigbee module (assume ZB firmware)
