Trouble with AnywhereUSB/2 not reconnecting automatically after rebooting Windows 10 Creators Update

, , , ,

I am using the following:
• Windows 10 Creators Update Version 1703 Build 15063
• 64-bit AnywhereUSB DRIVER for Windows - Version 3.90.213 (Rev N) February 2017
http://ftp1.digi.com/support/driver/40002668_N4.exe
• AnywhereUSB/2 Firmware v. 1.92
http://ftp1.digi.com/support/firmware/82002116_M1.dwn

I simply download and install 40002668_N4.exe in my VMware ESXi 6.5.0d Windows 10 VM (Hardware Version 13), and click the “Connect” button, and USB works right away, keyboard and mouse. But after any reboots of Windows 10, it usually doesn’t automatically connect, because the “Network Attached USB Enumerator” doesn’t always come up right in Device Manager/System devices section. It shows a yellow bang/exclamation. Over RDP, I disable it, then re-enable it, then I’m connected again, until the next reboot.

Is this a known issue? Would love to resolve this.

I also tried the older xxxxxxxN3.exe that I dug up somewhere, but it had the same issue.

Another customer reported this issue, and was able to resolve it by performing the following steps:

  1. Removing USB devices.
  2. Removing the VM’s USB (3.0) controller.
  3. Rebooting the VM.
  4. Re-adding the USB controller.
  5. Rebooting the VM again.
  6. Re-adding the AnywhereUSB (along with other USB devices).

Please let us know if this works for you, and if you had to perform any other steps.
