Yes, modules which came with 802.15.4 firmware can be updated to DigiMesh 2.4.
There is no special care needed to update the firmware, but the modules behave quite a bit differently depending on which firmware is loaded, so I’d recommend familiarizing yourself with the OEM manual for the DigiMesh 2.4 modules if that’s the route you decide to go.
