XBee3 LTE Cat 1 (Verizon) - Can't connect, not activated?

I recently picked up the Verizon XBee3 LTE Cat 1 Development Kit (XK3-C-V1-T-UB) from Digikey and followed the setup instructions, but I haven’t been able to establish connection with any endpoints despite being connected to the cellular network.

I issued an HTTP GET request to httpbin.org per the documentation (https://www.digi.com/resources/documentation/digidocs/90002350/default.htm#Tasks/t_get_http.htm%3FTocPath%3DXBee%2520connection%2520examples|_____5) and while I see a response, it’s a 302 response pointing to “http://quickaccess.verizonwireless.com/bbportal/oem/start.do?encryptedinfo=[.....]”.

My understanding is that this is Verizon’s activation portal, but I was under the impression that the SIM inside the dev kit was pre-activated. I don’t see any obvious way to activate it, and the call to Digi’s activation support went to voicemail. Is there something I’m missing?

ATPH = blank
ATAI = 0
I have a valid module IP address

Fierst,

That is an active SIM card and connection. Try the echo example and see what happens.

I don’t receive any response from the echo server. Sending the EOL character (0x0D) doesn’t trigger any response, nor does sending a string of characters followed by 0x0D. I tested the settings in Putty by opening a raw connection to the echo server from my PC and received a response, so something with the connection between my XBee and the server is off.

Fierst,

Try doing a restore to defaults and then try following the directions again for the Echo server. You should not be sending an 0x0D but just a

OK, settings restored to default, I followed the instructions:

Destination IP = 52.43.121.77
Destination Port = 2329
Text Delimiter = D (for Carriage Return)
IP = TCP [1]

Opened the port and pressed enter, no response.
Typed some characters and pressed enter, no response.

The result in the console window looks like the following: https://imgur.com/a/Gx2RVgZ

(If the image doesn’t load, I get no response from the server)

I still have good association (0), an IP, Cell Network strength, etc.

I am getting
f
Echo Server Starts
f

So I am sure the server is working. Are you putting in a 0D for the TD or just D?

Just D, and the hex output shows a carriage return.

That should be a 0D and not just D.

I set it to 0D and saw no difference. I still get no response from the echo server, Eliza, time server, etc. and HTTP Get requests still redirect me to that Verizon site.

I would recommend sending an email to tech.support@digi.com
