Hello,
here my situation: windows 2003 SBS virtualized on vmware esxi 4 update 1, anywhere usb and dell RD1000 external usb driver connected. All works well, but every time I try to copy a file is not possible to explore file system until copy finish. RD1000 is my backup solutions so every day I copy 80GB data backup. Any suggestion to solve?
Thanks to everybody
Daniele
p.s.: in device configuration, default gateway is server 2003 SBS ip address and not the network default gateway. If not, i’m not able to connect. Is it normal?
Hello,
USB 2.0 storage devices such as the RD1000 you’re using aren’t really recommended to use with the AnywhereUSB, because the AnywhereUSB is a (slower) USB 1.1 hub.
From our own experience, and from reports we’ve gotten from customers, various “issues”, such as the one you reported, may happen.
Unfortunately, there’s no short-term fix for this. Once we release a newer USB 2.0 model AnywhereUSB, it might behave better, related to these kinds of issues. It would, of course, be much faster as well.
To answer your other question, if the AnywhereUSB and host PC are on the same subnet (which is usually the case with AnywhereUSBs) then you actually don’t even need a gateway value.
