Connectport X2 realport connection recovery

Hi,

I have several Connectport X2s connected to a remote server as emulated com ports using the realport system. While configuring them remotely the other day I mistakenly changed the Ethernet IP settings from our defined ip address to “Obtain an ip address automaticly using DHCP.” on one device. Now I can no longer access it through the web interface.

Is there anything I could try to recover a ethernet connection to the device? I have it’s MAC address and it’s still visable over the xbee 900Mhz mesh network.

If it’s not possible what would I need to do to manually reset the device to get a connection? I can’t access it myself but could talk someone else through it.

You will need to use the Digi Device Discovery tool via a PC that is connected to same network to discover what the IP address is now at and adjust it.

I tried that on the Virtual machine we have controlling the other connectports and the tool doesn’t show anything. The vm is on a server connected to the local network.

Other ideas? I’m assuming unpluging and plugging the connectport back in won’t help because the ip will still be wrong?

Do you have a DHCP server that is enabled on this network? If you do not, that could be the issue.

I don’t know if there is. There’s an ethernet lan connection that other connectports are operating through using static ips and a seperate ethernet connection for internet.

I tried using -arp -a to find the lost ip address but no luck.

By your answers i’m guessing nothing can be done over the RF mesh connection?

If there’s nothing that can be done remotely to set the device back to it’s static IP any suggestions on how to proceed? Am I going to need to connect it to a DHCP server to recover it?

That is correct. The mesh network does not offer direct access to the X2’s firmware or commands. That was a feature that was never considered.

The only option I can think of if you can’t ARP the device or use the Digi Device Discovery tool to find it, then you are going to need to go on site to address it. You will need to bring with you a router or a smart switch that has a DHCP server function enabled on it to connect with.

Thanks. Will probably end up sending a replacement with the IP pre configured. Thought that’d be the case but wanted to confirm.
