DIGI CM 16 lockdown

We are considering moving a Digi CM 16 to our customers Internet edge however have concerns over the security capabilities of the Digi CM 16 console server. Can anyone advise if this is a bad decision or not and if its ok, how would you recommend we lock it down? Right now from what I can tell you can only specify one ip/subnet on each individual TCP port for serial connection. On the IP Filters page that simply prevents source IP/Subnet from managing the device.

The Digi CM 16 is no longer actively sold. It is limited on security since there has been very little change over the last few years.

If security is an issue for you. You should look at our next generation console servers the Passport and/or Connect IT:
