Edgeport/8 Default comport number

How do I preconfig Edgeport/8 driver for Windows XP every time a new edgeport is plugged in with assigned comport number 3-10 instead of 11-18 base on serial number.

Hi,

You’ll have to set the ports “based on physical usb port” instead of serial number. You can do this via the edgeport.exe program advanced tab. If you have any problems/questions let me know. Easiest way to run the edgeport.exe (in the system32 folder) is START/RUN and typing in “edgeport” without the quotes.

Yes I can do that based on usb port. I prefer a patched driver with default ports 3-10. Thanks

Hi,

Use “based on physical usb port” and then “single device option”.

after you re enumerate the Edgeport make the ports 3-10. This should allow you to have the ports be 3-10 no matter what USB port the edgeport is attached to. Be aware of course that you can ONLY have one Edgeport attached to the PC at one time.
