How to setup two series 2 Modules as a digital remote control

Hi,

I set up one module as XB24-ZB/ Zigbee End Device Digital IO, the
other as XB24-ZB/Zigbee Coordinator AT.
The serial number of the first one is the destination address of
the other and vice versa.
With these settings do I have to coordinate/join/pair the modules?
When I pull down the input pins on the end device there is neither
change on the pins nor serial data with IO-port information.
Isn’ it it that easy?

Have you gone through IO line passing from the XBee/XBee-Pro ZB product manual?
