is my Xbee burned out due to high voltage

Hi
here what I did, I connected the XBee S2 using wires to bread board, then connected 12V to bread Board
the Xbee flashed for 1 sec, then it went off.
now when I connect it to explorer, it got disconnected from laptop as soon as I plug the XBee!
I think I burned it? is this true? and is there any way to restore it back?
(Note: I did not use any adapter, I connected the XBee using wires from pins to bread board directly)
