Need some guidance on 37xx firmware development

New to the forum with a question…

I’m working with a 37xx and 485 custom daughterboard. The product is orphaned and I want to redo the firmware to suit my application.

I’d like to do this the easiest way possible for test cycles. I would like to take advantage of the debugger with dynamic c, but again, I don’t need the entire development system with the proto board, etc.

Any suggestions on how to go about this? Can I get away with a cable? Can it be done over Ethernet or do I have to remove the daughterboard to get at the serial header?

Development system is XP Pro.

Thanks in advance for any pointers!

Hello,

You will need to apply the appropriate power to the board. To reprogram the board you will need the USB programming cable with the 1.27mm headers. See this link http://store.digi.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2208. See Section 2.2.2 of the RCM3700 user manual http://ftp1.digi.com/support/documentation/019-0136_L.pdf for a picture showing the hardware connections.

Thanks very much. This is going to be fun!
