Does anyone know how to issue a stop-a command while telnetd (or ssh’d) into a solaris box, using a PortServer?
~# which I am accustom to using doesn’t seem to work through a PortServer.

This should be the info you’re looking for:

That worked perfectly and is exactly what I need to know.
Thanks Very Much for you fast reply.
Hello. We’ve got a couple of questions for your consideration…
2 (DTR) 1 (DCD)
3 (TxD) 5 (RxD)
6 (RxD) 4 (TxD)
7 (DSR) 7 (DTR)
5 (SG) 8 (SG)
8 (CTS) 2 (RTS)
1 (RTS) 7 (CTS)
4 (GND) 3 (GND)
The above pinout basically adheres to that of a Cisco console adapter (PN 76000631). We chose it because it was the closest match from our search via the Internet for a Netra T1/105 serial cable. In short, we can now see console output but we can not get any response when we try to input commands via the SSH connection. Some current config excerpts from ourT16 are shown below:
#> show port range=8
tty termtype dev sess uid edelay auto bin group dport dest
8 vt100 prn 4 none 1 off off none none none
#> show line range=8
tty baud csize parity stopb break error inpck istrip onlcr otab
8 9600 8 N 1 ignore ignore off off off off
#>
Hopefully it helps.
Any assistance/feedback that you folks can offer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Something does not look right with your cable. Please confirm the pin-outs from the following diagram:
Also, be sure and plug the “Netra” end of the cable into the Netra server port, as the cable is not interchangeable.
Typically, ~break (tilde break) is used to send a stop-a via SSH.
First, thanks for responding. Yes, to summarize our (2) issues:
2 (DTR) 1 (DCD)
3 (TxD) 5 (RxD)
6 (RxD) 4 (TxD)
7 (DSR) 8 (DTR)
5 (SG) 6 (SG)
8 (CTS) 2 (RTS)
1 (RTS) 7 (CTS)
4 (GND) 3 (GND)
which matches the pinout diagram in your URL. Yes, we’ve also verified that each end of the cable is connected tothe correct port/device. Still not getting a response to the console when we type commands via the SSH connection.
#> show port range=1
tty termtype dev sess uid edelay auto bin group dport dest
1 vt100 prn 4 none 1 off off none none none
#> show line range=1
tty baud csize parity stopb break error inpck istrip onlcr otab
1 9600 8 N 1 send ignore off off off off
#>
Note: We configured/verified the “break” column from the “show line” output to “send”.
Thanks in advance.
This might also be affected by how your connectesc or telnetesc settings are set.
It would probably be best at this point to call into Technical Support (952-912-3456) or open an Online Support Request if you haven’t done so already.
